Summit on Peace in Ukraine
The two-day Summit on Peace in Ukraine, held on 15th-16th June, 2024 in Switzerland, concluded with 80 countries and four organizations supporting a joint communiqué aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. India did not sign the document, and Brazil attended only as an observer.
Focus Areas of the Communiqué
- Humanitarian Issues: Emphasis on the release of all prisoners of war and the return of deported and unlawfully displaced Ukrainian civilians.
- Nuclear Safety and Food Security: Highlighted as critical agendas in the declaration.
Absence of Russia
- Effectiveness Questioned: Russia's absence, due to not being invited, raised concerns about the summit's ....
