Significance
- Economy: Indo-Pacific is a centre of global economy and commerce. It accounts for 65 per cent of the world’s population, 63 per cent of the world’s GDP, and 46 per cent of the world’s merchandise trade.
- Trade: The Indo-Pacific region has a high growth potential in both merchandise and services trade. On average, around 60 per cent of the world’s trade has been taking place within the region.
- Important Sea Lines of Communication (SLOC): Sea lines of communication connect world countries with one another. In peace-time, these ocean routes serve as commercial trade routes; in war-time, they become strategic lines ....
