Classification of Indian Missiles
- Missiles are generally classified on the basis of their Type, Launch Mode, Range, Propulsion, Warhead and Guidance System.
On the Basis of Type
- Cruise Missiles: A cruise Missile is an Unmanned self-propelled (till the time of impact) guided vehicle (means a missile with drive). Cruise missiles Classified upon its speed:
- Subsonic cruise missile. Ex. Nirbhay Supersonic missile Ex. Brahmos-1
- Hypersonic missile Ex. Brahmos-2
- Ballistic Missile: A ballistic missile is a missile that has a ballistic trajectory over most of its flight path. Ballistic missiles carry huge payload compare to cruise missile. Ex. Prithvi, Agni, Dhanush are ballistic missiles of India.
