Recently, India has announced three new schemes for electronics manufacturing industries- production-linked incentive scheme, component and semiconductor manufacturing promotion scheme and creation of new manufacturing clusters. It is in sync with the new national policy on electronics, unveiled in February 2020, and seeks to promote electronics manufacturing in India. In this light, let us examine the present status of electronics manufacturing in India and problems and prospects afflicting the electronic manufacturing in India.
