- It was a historical moment for the US President Donald Trump when he announced that the Persian Gulf kingdom of Bahrain would establish full diplomatic relations with Israel. Bahrain is the 4th Arab country to recognize Israel (Egypt did so in 1979, Jordon in 1994 and UAE recently). Bahrain’s move, a month after the United Arab Emirates normalized relations, furthers a strategic realignment of the Middle East/West Asia.
