Green Bonds
- Green bonds are designed to help the environment by directing portions of the capital raised to projects related to clean water, renewable energy, energy efficiency, river and habitat restoration, or mitigation of climate change impacts.
- Green bonds are debt securities issued by financial, non-financial or public entities where the proceeds are used to finance 100 per cent green projects and assets.
- Green bond issuance for 2019 was $254 billion—the first recognized green bond was issued in 2008.
