Hope: UAE Mars Mission
On 9th February 2021, the UAE has become the fifth country after the US, Russia, China, the EU, and India, to reach the Martian orbit when its first mission to Mars (Al-Amal or Hope Probe) entered the orbit of the red planet.
- It took seven months after the Emirati-built ‘Hope Probe’ was launched from Tanegashima in Japanwith the aim to study Martian weather dynamics.
- The mission is one of the three launched to Mars from Earth in July. The other two — China’s Tianwen-1 dual orbiter-rover and Perseverance from NASA — have reached the red planet later this month.
