First Regional Rapid Transit System Inaugurated

On 20th October, 2023, Prime Minister inaugurated the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor at Sahibabad RapidX Station in Uttar Pradesh.

- Flagging off the RapidX Train: During the launch event, the Prime Minister will also flag off the RapidX train, which will connect Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, marking the commencement of India's Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
- Modern Regional Mobility Solution: The RRTS, being developed in the country, represents a state-of-the-art regional mobility solution that rivals the best in the world. This system is designed to provide high-speed trains for intercity commuting every 15 minutes, with the ability to increase frequency to every 5 minutes as needed.
- Economic and Environmental Impact: The development of the RRTS is expected to significantly boost economic activity.
- It will improve access to employment, education, and healthcare opportunities while playing a pivotal role in reducing air pollution and vehicular congestion.
- Multi-Modal Integration: In line with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, the RRTS network will be extensively integrated with other modes of transportation, including railway stations, metro stations, and bus services.
- RRTS Corridor Details: The priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor, spanning 17 kilometers, will connect Sahibabad to the 'Duhai Depot.'
- It features stations at Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai along the way.
- National and Regional Impact: The RRTS initiative, being rolled out at a cost exceeding Rs 30,000 crore, aims to connect Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour, passing through key urban centers.
