Union Minister Launches IndiaSkills 2023-24 and Honors World Skills 2022 Winners

On 17th October,2023, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, officially launched IndiaSkills 2023-24 during an event held at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi.

- Celebrating World Skills 2022: The event featured a video presentation showcasing the journey of World Skills 2022, and some of the winners shared their experiences in the competition.
- Collaborative Efforts for National Development: The Union Minister urged policymakers, academia, and industry to collaborate and turn skill development into a nationwide movement, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision to make India a developed nation by 2047.
- WorldSkills Competition: The WorldSkills Competition is the world's largest skill competition, held every two years and organized by WorldSkills International with 86 member countries. It sets high performance standards and provides an objective assessment of vocational excellence. The competition spans four days and involves up to 22 hours of skills testing.
- India's Success in WorldSkills 2022: India participated in 50 skills at the WorldSkills competition in 2022, securing its best-ever 11th position with 2 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals, and 13 Medallions for Excellence. Competitors who represented India were selected through the IndiaSkills Competition in 2021.
- Significant Investment: Industry and academic partners sponsored approximately Rs. 20 Crore, contributing to training infrastructure, expertise, international training, raw materials, and toolkits for India's competitors.
