Model Women-Friendly Gram Panchayat Initiative

On 5th March 2025, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched the Sashakt Panchayat-Netri Abhiyan at the National Workshop of Women Elected Representatives in New Delhi.

Key Points

Objective: The initiative aims to enhance leadership skills, decision-making capabilities, and confidence among Women Elected Representatives (WERs) in Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Government Commitment: Union Minister highlighted the government’s focus on empowering women leaders for stronger grassroots governance.
Training & Recognition: Specialized training modules for WERs were launched, and 23 women representatives were awarded for their outstanding contributions.
Participation: Over 1,200 elected Women Representatives attended the event, organized as part of International Women’s Day 2025 celebrations.
