Corruption Perceptions Index, 2024

On 11th February 2025, Transparency International released the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2024, ranking India 96th out of 180 countries, with a score of 38, down from 39 in 2023.

Declining Score: India’s score dropped for the second consecutive year, from 40 in 2022 to 38 in 2024.
Regional Comparison: Among neighbors, China ranked 76th, Sri Lanka 121st, Pakistan 135th, and Bangladesh 149th.
Global Trends: Denmark topped the list as the least corrupt country, followed by Finland and Singapore.
Corruption & Climate Action: The report highlights corruption as a major obstacle to climate policies, diverting funds meant for emission reductions and adaptation efforts.
