​PM Modi Inaugurates Development Projects in MP

On 25th December 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the 100th birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee by inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for various development projects in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh.

Key Points

  • India’s First Interlinking of Rivers Project: Costing Rs. 44,605 crore, the project will irrigate 8 lakh hectares across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, benefiting over 7 lakh farmer families in 10 districts.
  • Drinking Water & Power Generation: It will provide drinking water to 44 lakh people, generate 103 MW of hydropower and 27 MW of solar power, and improve groundwater levels in Bundelkhand.
  • Funding & Implementation: 90% of costs will be borne by the Central Government and 10% by State Governments under a tripartite MoU signed in March 2021.
  • Atal Gram Sushasan Buildings: Foundation stone for 1,153 buildings were laid to enhance Gram Panchayat governance, fostering better administrative functionality and good governance at the grassroots level.
  • Commemorative Stamp & Coin Release: Marking the centenary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a special coin and stamp were unveiled by the Prime Minister.
  • Bundelkhand’s Development: The project aims to improve drought-prone regions through industrialization, investment, tourism, and employment opportunities.
