On 24th November 2024, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar inaugurated the new Chancery of the Embassy of India in Rome, underscoring Italy's importance as a key European partner and influential Mediterranean ally.

- Five-Year Strategic Action Plan: India and Italy unveiled a five-year action plan (2025-29) focusing on defence, clean energy, trade, and connectivity, following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
- Cultural and Historical Connections: EAM noted the long-standing cultural ties between the two countries, with Italy playing a central role in India’s historical engagement with Europe.
- India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC): EAM discussed the IMEC, a transformative initiative aimed at improving connectivity between Europe and Asia, a key outcome from India’s G20 presidency.
- Visit to Italy: During his three-day visit, EAM will participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Outreach session in Fiuggi and attend the 10th edition of the MED Mediterranean Dialogue in Rome, engaging in discussions with Italian and other international counterparts.
