Tripartite Agreement Signed for Cross-Border Electricity Trade

On 3rd Oct 2024, Nepal, India, and Bangladesh formalized a tripartite agreement to facilitate cross-border electricity trade.

  • Export Period: Nepal will export surplus electricity to Bangladesh from June 15 to November 15 each year.
  • Initial Phase: The first phase involves the export of 40 MW of hydroelectricity from Nepal to Bangladesh, utilizing Indian territory for transmission.
