On 2nd September, 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Security has approved the procurement of 240 aero-engines for the Indian Air Force's Su-30MKI aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), valued at over Rs. 26,000 crore.

- Indigenous Content: Over 54% of the engines' components will be indigenously sourced, thanks to the indigenization of key components.
- Manufacturing and Delivery Timeline: The engines will be manufactured at HAL's Koraput division, with deliveries starting in a year and completion expected over eight years.
