Mobile Therapy Buses

On July 29th, 2024, the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), and the Hans Foundation, launched of Mobile Therapy Bus to address the unique needs of children with disabilities.

Key Points

  • The five Mobile Therapy Buses will be deployed in Noida, Ghaziabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
  • Each Mobile Therapy Bus, designed to provide intensive and life-changing services, is expected to reach nearly 14,000 people with disability.
  • The teaching-learning material and other aids provided by Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK) be stored in the buses for easy distribution within the communities.

NIEPID

  • National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (Formerly National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped) established in the year 1984 at Secunderabad (TS) is an Autonomous Body under the administrative control of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
  • NIEPID (Formely NIMH) is dedicated to provide quality services to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (Divyangjan) in the National interest.

Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra

  • Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra is ALIMCO’s initiative, which works under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, to offer assistive devices to senior citizens and people with disabilities at affordable rates.
