Indian External Affairs Minister Visit To Qatar

On June 30th , 2024, external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar met Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha and both reviewed the bilateral relationship focusing on political, trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and people-to-people ties.

- EAM’s visit comes four-and-half months after Qatar released eight former Indian Navy personnel, who were sentenced to death after being arrested in August 2022.
- Both leaders exchanged views on regional and global issues.
- Both leaders are look forward to the further enhancement of India-Qatar relations and continued dialogue on issues of mutual interest.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Qatar on February 14-15, 2024 and held discussions with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
- Trade and economic ties are among the key pillars of the bilateral relationship.
