India to Host 81st IATA Meeting

On 3rd June, 2024, IATA announced that India will host the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Delhi, in June 2025.
- This will be the third time the IATA AGM will be convened in Delhi, after 1958 and 1983.
Key Points
- IATA was founded in Havana, Cuba, on 19 April 1945.
- It is the prime vehicle for inter-airline cooperation in promoting safe, reliable, secure and economical air services - for the benefit of the world's consumers.
- The international scheduled air transport industry is more than 100 times larger than it was in 1945.
- At its founding, IATA had 57 members from 31 nations; mostly in Europe and North America. Today it has over 330 members from 120 nations in every part of the globe.
- It is headquartered in Montreal, Canada with executive offices in Geneva, Switzerland.
- It supports many areas of aviation activity and helps formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues, including environmental concerns.
