World Population Prospects Report 2022
On 11th July, 2022, the 27th edition of the ‘World Population Prospects’ was released by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division.
Highlights
Global Population Growth
- The global population is expected to grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050 and 10.4 billion in 2100.
- In 2020, the global growth rate fell under 1% per year for the first time since 1950.
Regional Population Growth
- More than half of the projected increase in global population up to 2050 will be concentrated in just eight countries: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, ....
