Transgender Rights
“Transgender” is an umbrella term that describes people whose gender identity or expression does not match the sex they were assigned at birth. For example, a transgender person may identify as a woman despite having been born with male genitalia.
Constitutional Status
- Preamble to the Constitution mandates Justice - social, economic, and political equality of status.
- Article 14: Right to Equality
- Article 15 speaks about the prohibition of discrimination on the ground of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.
