Long-Range Glide Bomb "Gaurav"
On 13th August 2024, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the maiden flight test of the indigenously developed long-range glide bomb "Gaurav".
- The flight test of the 1,000 kg class glide bomb was conducted off the coast of Odisha, marking a significant achievement in India's defence capabilities.
- "Gaurav" is an air-launched bomb designed to hit targets at long distances with high precision, using a hybrid navigation scheme to steer towards its intended target.
- The bomb was launched from a Su-30 MK-I fighter jet of the Indian Air Force, demonstrating its compatibility with the country’s existing air combat platforms.
