​Earthquakes

Earthquakes are vibrations of the Earth, caused by the rupture and sudden movement of rocks that have been strained beyond their elastic limits.

  • In other words, Earthquake is a series of shocks and tremors resulting from the sudden release of pressure along active faults and in areas of volcanic activity.

Types of Earthquakes

(A) Classification based on the causative factors:

  1. Plate Tectonics
