Kamba Ramayana Parayanam

On 18th March 2025, the Ministry of Culture inaugurated the Kamba Ramayana Parayanam in SriRangam, Tamil Nadu.

  • The South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur, under Union Ministry of Culture is coming forward with a support system for the sustenance and propagation of the Kamba Ramayana tradition of Tamil Nadu.

What is Kamba Ramayana?

Tamil Rendition

  • Also known as Ramavataram, it is a Tamil rendition of the Sanskrit Valmiki Ramayana.
  • It stands out for its poetic brilliance and spiritual insights deeply rooted in Tamil culture.

Authorship and Patronage

  • This epic was composed by the renowned Tamil poet Kambar in the 12th century ....
