DRDO Successfully Tests Next-Gen Akash SAM
On 12th January, 2024, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) achieved a significant milestone with the successful flight-test of the New Generation Akash Surface to Air Missile (SAM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.

- Successful Flight Test: The New Generation Akash SAM was tested against a high-speed unmanned aerial target at very low altitude. The weapon system intercepted and destroyed the target, validating the entire system's functionality.
- Integrated Weapon System: The flight test included the missile with an indigenously developed radio frequency seeker, launcher, multi-function radar, and command, control & communication system.
