Causes
- Natural Phenomena: Coastal erosion is thought to be caused mostly by wave energy. Natural dangers such as cyclones, thermal expansion of saltwater, storm surges, and tsunamis are all hampered by the melting of continental glaciers and ice sheets as a result of climate change.
- Littoral Drift: One of the principal causes of coastal erosion is strong littoral drift, which results in sand movement. Littoral drift is the natural movement of silt along the shorelines of a sea or a lake as a result of wave action in response to the prevailing winds.
