- Table Tennis player Sharath Kamal Achanta has been awarded country’s highest sporting honour - Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for the year 2022.
- Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is given for the spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson.
- He is the first Indian table tennis player ever to become ten times Senior National Champion breaking the record of eight-time National Champion Kamlesh Mehta.
- Among others, most recently, in the Commonwealth Games 2022 at Birmingham he won three Gold, and a Silver Medal in Table Tennis.
