Air Pollution in Some Parts of India Increased During the Pandemic

A recent study has found that reduction in economic activities during the pandemic-related lockdown had resulted in a decrease in air pollution in most parts of India but central-western and northern India recorded an increase in pollution.

The Study

  • The study was conducted by scientists at the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) - an autonomous institute under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) - which specialises in observational Astronomy & Astrophysics and Atmospheric Sciences.
