ISRO and CNES Collaborate on TRISHNA Mission
On 5th June, 2024, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) provided details about its collaboration with the French national space agency CNES for the upcoming satellite mission named TRISHNA, aimed at significantly advancing global initiatives to observe and combat climate change.
Mission Overview
- TRISHNA (Thermal Infra-Red Imaging Satellite for High-resolution Natural Resource Assessment) is designed for high spatial and temporal resolution monitoring.
- Focuses on Earth's surface temperature, emissivity, biophysical, and radiation variables for global surface energy budgeting.
- Addresses human-induced climate change impacts and efficient water resource management through evapotranspiration monitoring.
