About Raja Parba

  • Raja Parba is Odisha’s three-day unique festival celebrating the onset of monsoon and the earth’s womanhood.
  • It is believed that during this time the Mother Earth or Bhudevi undergoes menstruation.
  • During this period all agricultural operations remain suspended as a mark of respect towards the Earth.

Three Days of Celebration

  • First day of the festival is called “Pahili Raja” which marks the beginning of the festival in which people do all types of preparations for the festival.
  • Second day is called “Raja/Mithuna Sankranti” ....
