India's Commitment to UN Peacekeeping
- On May 29th, 2023, the Indian Army commemorated the 75th International Day of United Nations (UN) Peacekeepers.
- India is one of the largest troop-contributing countries in UN Peacekeeping operations.
- Approximately 2,75,000 Indian troops, including soldiers, medical personnel, and engineers, have been deployed in various missions.
- The sacrifices made by Indian soldiers in the line of duty amount to 179 lives lost.
- India has established the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) in New Delhi.
- CUNPK provides specialized training to over 12,000 troops every year.
- India promotes gender equality in peacekeeping by deploying Female Engagement Teams, Women Military Police, women staff ....
