​New Maritime Initiatives to Enhance India’s Global Trade

On 27th February 2025, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW) announced host of initiatives aimed at modernizing India’s maritime infrastructure and improving its global trade standing.

Key Initiatives

1.One Nation-One Port Process (ONOP)

  • Aim: To standardize and streamline operations across India’s major ports.
  • Features: This system integrates processes with Immigration, the Port Health Organization (PHO), and Port Authorities, reducing container documentation by 33% (from 143 to 96) and bulk cargo documents by 29% (from 150 to 106).
  • Impact: The ONOP addresses inefficiencies, operational delays, and costs, contributing to India's maritime power and supporting the goal of a self-reliant India ....
