Modification to National Livestock Mission
On 21st February, 2024, the Union Cabinet approved modifications to the National Livestock Mission (NLM), introducing additional activities to support the livestock sector.
Additional Activities
Empowering Livestock Entrepreneurs
- This is to help many groups like individuals, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), and Section 8 companies (Under Companies Act, 2013).
- They can get a 50% subsidy, up to Rs. 50 lakhs, for projects with horses, donkeys, mules, and camels. Also, states will get help to protect these animals.
- The government has set aside Rs. 10 crores to build semen stations and nucleus breeding farms.
