Waste to Wealth Plants under GOBAR-Dhan Scheme
On 1st February, 2023, Finance Minister announced 500 new ‘waste to wealth' plants under GOBARdhan (Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan) scheme.
Under this scheme:
- 200 plants will be compressed biogas (CBG)
- 300 will be community or cluster-based plants
- The Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have been mandated to provide a 5 per cent share of CBGs.
About GOBAR-Dhan Scheme
- It was launched in April 2018 by Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation as a part of the Biodegradable Waste Management component under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) (SMB-G).
