Right to be Forgotten

On 25th February, 2023, the Delhi High Court decided to hear a doctor’s plea for enforcement of his ‘Right to be Forgotten’ on March, 15, 2023.

About Right to be Forgotten

  • It is the right to have personal information removed from publicly available sources, including the internet and search engines, databases, websites etc. once the personal information in question is no longer necessary, or relevant.
  • It can also refer to demands to websites’ hosts to erase certain information.
  • Origin: The Right to be Forgotten originates from a 2014 decision of the European Court of Justice.
