Dedicated Freight Corridor

Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) is a high speed and high-capacity railway corridor that is exclusively meant for the transportation of freight or in other words goods and commodities.

  • The concept was mooted in 2006 to generate substantial capacity for freight traffic by developing separate tracks on identified routes.
  • In 2006, the Government of India established a dedicated body to implement the project, called the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL).
