EscaPADE Mission

Recently, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) officially authorized preparation for the launch of an interplanetary mission to Mars – the Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers (EscaPADE) Mission – in October 2024.

Mission Highlights

  • The EscaPADE Mission will be led by the University of California, Berkeley.
  • EscaPADE consists of two identical spacecraft - dubbed "Blue" and "Gold" - developed by Rocket Lab. Both spacecraft weigh about 120 kilograms.
  • The trip to Mars will take about 11 months, after which Blue and Gold will separate and start their mission.
  • By 2026, the spacecraft will most likely be exploring the red planet's ....
