National Medical Commission Act 2019- A Mega Reform of Medical Sector
- On 7th August, President of India gave assent to the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill, 2019 which is aimed at ushering in mega reforms in the medical education sector.
Salient Features of the Act
- Repeals the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and dissolves the Medical Council of India.
- Sets up National Medical Council (NMC) at centre comprising 25 members and within 3 years of its passage, state governments will establish State Medical Councils at the state level.
