- World Bamboo Day is observed on September 18 every year to increase the awareness of bamboo globally.
- It was officially established by the World Bamboo organization at the 8th World Bamboo Congress held in Bangkok in 2009.

Government’s Initiatives to Promote Bamboo
Bamboo Cluster
- On 8th September, 2020, the Union Ministry of Agriculture and farmers Welfare launched 22 bamboo clusters in nine states in order to promote cultivation and export of bamboo.
- These states are Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Assam, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Tripura and Karnataka.
