FDI in Defence Sector
- The Union Cabinet approved a new Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy in the defence sector which allows the FDI through automatic approval to be increased from 49% to 74%.
- Till now, 100 per cent foreign investments were permitted in the defence industry - 49 per cent under the automatic route and government approval was required beyond that.
- The union Government has also introduced a condition for Foreign investment in the Defence Sector i.e. FDI will be subject to scrutiny under ‘National Security’ clause - foreign investments in the defence sector would be subject to scrutiny on the ....
