Similipal Forest Fire

A fire which started in the Similipal biosphere reserve area in February was brought under control in March.

  • The Similipal forest reserve area frequently witnesses forest fires during dry weather conditions.
  • Forest fire is the uncontrolled fire that destroys the biodiversity and the ecology of large parts of the forest. It is a threat to the fauna and flora and endangers biodiversity by destroying habitats and precious life.
