Theia 456 is a Stretched Out Stream of Sibling Stars: Study
A new study titled 'Theia 456: A New Stellar Association in the Galactic Disk' has revealed that milky Way galaxy houses about 8,292 stellar streams.
- A stellar stream is a rare linear pattern-rather than a cluster-of stars.
- All stellar streams found in our Milky Way galaxy are named Theia after the Greek goddess of sight.
Key Findings of the Study
- The study has revealed that 468 stars found in the stellar stream Theia 456 were born at the same time, about 100 million years ago and are now moving alongside each other in the same direction.
