Mission Purvodaya
On 11th January, 2020, the government launched Mission Purvodaya in order to strengthen steel sector in the Eastern region.
- Objective: Accelerated development of eastern India through establishment of Integrated Steel Hub.
- Need: Despite being endowed with rich natural resources (iron ore, bauxite, coking coal, etc.), eastern region of the country has lagged behind in socio-economic development as compared to some other parts of the country.
Key Points
- The proposed Integrated Steel Hub will consist of Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Northern Andhra Pradesh.
- The Integrated Steel Hub would focus on 3 key elements:
