The Supreme Court was thrown into its biggest-ever crisis recently when its four senior-most judges revolted against Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and launched an unprecedented public attack against his allegedly arbitrary way of assigning important cases to benches headed by junior SC judges, ignoring senior ones. Four senior most judges were restive over cases of far reaching consequences for the nation being assigned selectively to benches of preference.
