Enzyme to Arrest Bacteria Cell Growth Discovered
- Scientists at the Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB) have discovered a new enzyme which helps in breaking cell walls of bacteria.
- The researchers have discovered a new enzyme “Murein EndopeptidiaseK” which would cut the bacteria cell wall.
Significance of the Research
- It is crucial to know how cells grow in bacteria to understand the anti-bacterial resistance to currently available antibiotics. This research offers a potential for a new drug delivery route to arrest the anti-bacterial resistance through existing antibiotic drugs.
