Clydebank Declaration

  • The United Kingdom announced the launch of the Clydebank Declaration on Green Shipping Corridors at the COP 26 conference in Glasgow.
  • The declaration aims to set up green shipping corridors, which are zero-emission maritime routes between 2 (or more) ports.
  • As part of the declaration, the signatory countries will support the establishment of at least six green shipping corridors by the middle of this decade and aspire to see many more corridors in operation by 2030.
  • Around 19 countries have signed the declaration. India has not signed the declaration yet.
