East Asia Summit 2019
On 4 November 2019, 14th East Asia Summit (EAS) was held in Thailand during the 35th ASEAN Summit. At the East-Asia Summit, Indian PM proposed the Indo-Pacific Initiative for a safe and secure maritime. This indicates that India is ready to play a bigger role in the region where China has been pushing its military assertiveness.
Indo-Pacific Initiative
- The main objective of the initiative is to achieve safe, secure and a stable maritime domain.
- It aims to achieve this by creating partnerships among interested states by sustainably using marine resources.
- To take the initiative forward, India will organize Indo-Pacific Conclave ....
