Countries of Particular Concern
On 8th December, 2020, the US designated Pakistan and China among eight other countries of particular concern (CPC) for violation of religious freedom. However, the US did not accept the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) recommendation that India, Russia, Syria and Vietnam be also designated as CPCs.
About Countries of Particular Concern
- CPC is a designation by the Secretary of State of a nation engaged in severe violations of religious freedom under the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA) of 1998. The term "particularly severe violations of religious freedom" means systematic, ongoing, egregious violations of religious freedom.
