Sarvatra: The Indigenous Bullet-proof Jacket

Major Anoop Mishra of the Indian Army has won the Army Design Bureau Excellence Award for designing and developing a new bullet-proof jacket.

  • The jacket, named ‘Sarvatra’, has been indigenously developed at the College of Military Engineering, Pune.
  • It is a Level IV hard body armour suit with panel inserts.
  • It can withstand hits from all kinds of ammunition including lethal sniper rifle bullets and offers protection from neck to ankle and upper arms.
  • The jacket has been tested by the Infantry at their test facility.
