SEZ Policy Review Committee Suggests a Liberal SEZ Policy
The Government had constituted a Group of eminent persons under the Chairmanship of Baba Kalyani (Chairman M/s. Bharat Forge) to study the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Policy of India in June 2018.
Objectives of the committee
- To evaluate the SEZ policy and make it compatible with WTO rules.
- To suggest measures for maximizing utilization of vacant land in SEZs.
- To suggest changes in the SEZ policy based on international experience.
- To merge the SEZ policy with other Government schemes such as coastal economic zones, the Delhi Mumbai industrial corridor, national industrial manufacturing zones and food, and textiles parks.
