New Guidelines for Air Travel of Differently-abled Passengers
On 26th October, 2021, in an attempt to make air travel easier for people with disabilities, the Civil Aviation Ministry issued a list of “draft accessibility standards and guidelines”.
The guidelines have been issued under the Rights of Person with Disabilities Rules, 2017.
About Guidelines
- During the screening of prosthetics, airport security may use X-ray, explosive trace detection devices or visual checks according to their requirement, the guidelines noted.
- Airlines and airport operators to make special arrangements to ensure that the dignity and privacy of the passenger is not violated during screening and other security checks.
